I started my professional journey practicing Interior Design after graduating from the University of Manitoba. I worked for a leading edge paint company doing Colour Marketing, Store Design, Public Relations and Interior Design. TV appearances across Western Canada, and working with the Vancouver Heritage Foundation on a restoration project were just a few of the highlights. After 9 years, I left to pursue entrepreneurship.
I took my design skills and translated them into makeup artistry, working for dozens of private clients, weddings, special events and photos shoots. Working with photographers on catalogue and creative shoots became my specialty. I did makeup for the Langara College Photography Department on contract for 4 years.
Venturing into direct sales, I worked as an independent representative for a large jewelry company, with my personal sales topping over $300K in 6 years. I coached and mentored over 300 women, with cumulative team sales over $250K annually. Blogging alongside my business was a driver that became a passion for sharing.
Writing, blogging and copywriting was born out of years of blogging, most recently on my current lifestyle website, Scarlett Ballantyne. Writing for parenting websites such as Scary Mommy, UrbanMommies, and Urbanmoms.ca, in addition to writing SEO for private clients has translated my toolkit of skills into a freelance business.
